Winners and Losers: Cadillac Leads the Way in January Sales, Lincoln Continues to Falter

The first month of 2013 is already in the books and it’s already mimicking what we saw in 2012. Chrysler Group reported a profit of $1.7 billion in 2012, up from $183 million in 2011, and momentum continues to flow in 2013 as two of its brands (Dodge and Fiat) crack the top five sales winners for last month. Lincoln on the other hand, came out of the gate in 2013 flat experiencing the biggest drop in sales. However, after a recent advertising push during this year’s Super Bowl, we don’t expect Lincoln’s numbers to be in the basement much longer. Take a look to see if your favorite automaker made the top five sales winners or losers list below.

Winners

Cadillac (+47 percent)

Cadillac opened 2013 with a bang leading all automakers with a daily sales rate increase of 47 percent. Leading the way for Cadillac in sales was the ATS, which moved 2,781 units last month, a 100 percent increase over the same month last year. Same goes for the redesigned XTS, which managed 1,900 in sales last month. The SRX took the top spot for most units moved in January 2013 with 4,380, up 5.1 percent from the same month last year. Other Cadillac models that saw a decrease in sales included the CTS (-17 percent) and Escalade (-13 percent).
