Chrysler is recalling almost 300 of its Chrysler Town & Country minivans and its soon-to-be discontinued Dodge Grand Caravan twin.

The issue affecting both minivans is their right rear hub and bearing assemblies. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the part in question was improperly machined. The hub and bearing assembly on the Town and Country and Grand Caravan could then wear out more quickly which could lead the wheel to separate and escalate into an accident.

289 MY2012 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans are involved in the recall. The affected vehicles were built between November 15th, 2011 through November 21st of the same year.

Chrysler has begun notifying 2012 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan owners of the issue. Those who have not yet been notified, or owners who have additional questions or concerns, can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number M13. The NHTSA can also be contacted as well about the recall; the agency’s contact info is 1-888-327-4236 and reference ID is 12V142000. Note no accidents, injuries, or fatalities involving the minivans have been reported at the time of this post.
