While most auto manufacturers are downsizing vehicle weight and engine sizes to meet stringent fuel economy standards, it’s good to know there are yet others with simple, singular-minded goals to do little more than build the biggest, baddest car on the road. For the discerning gentleman and woman, the soon-to-be ultra rare 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG and its 630-hp biturbo V-12 say hi.
For AMG’s 45th anniversary, Mercedes will build only 45 of the iconic roadsters and all of them will have a new paint scheme: Designo Magno Graphite. We’re not sure what that means, but Mercedes says the matte finish looks like silk. Because nothing is more appropriate or comfortable than silk. And in case you forget the beast beneath the sheets, AMG also saw fit to adorn the SL65 with a sports exhaust, and special titanium-grey wheels wrapped in rubber larger than your fat-with-excess head.
“To mark AMG’s 45th birthday we are presenting the SL 65 AMG ‘45th ANNIVERSARY’ – a very special anniversary model in a limited edition of 45 vehicles. The superior V12 roadster with exclusive appointments embodies our brand claim ‘Driving Performance’ to perfection,” says Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG can arrive at 60 mph from a standstill in the time it takes for you to read “who cares about MPG?” We’re pretty sure all 45 were spoken for, despite an as-yet unnamed price, in the same amount of time.
And not a single damn was given:
