The 2014 Range Rover Evoque and LR2 have been officially priced, and will see some changes for the new model year. Last year Land Rover gambled by introducing its 2013 Range Rover Evoque, a sleekly-designed, significantly smaller model. That gamble has paid off handsomely as the Evoque is now Land Rover’s best-selling model worldwide, with more than 170,000 Evoques sold in just 18 months.
Not wanting to mess with a winning formula, the five-door 2014 Range Rover Evoque is similarly priced, starting at $41,995 for the entry-level Pure trim. Five levels up, is the Evoque Dynamic, starting at $57,195. The 2014 Range Rover Evoque will once again be offered in a coupe body style, with the entry-level Evoque Coupe Pure Plus model starting at $45,040, climbing to $58,195 for the Evoque Coupe Dynamic model. All prices include an $895 delivery fee.
The 2014 Range Rover Evoque gets a new ZF-sourced nine-speed automatic transmission, replacing the six-speed automatic. The new transmission will make for smoother shifts, and increased fuel efficiency. The Evoque will also the Active Driveline system–which helps distribute power more effectively–as a standard feature. There will also be a few driver-assist features, such as cruise control and Intelligent Emergency Braking, which automatically applies the breaks if the vehicle senses an impending accident.
The 2014 Land Rover LR2 received a new 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine last year, replacing its six-cylinder powerplant. Changes are minimal for the new model year, with updates to the infotainment system being the primary change. The touchscreen features improved scrolling on models with navigation, and a QWERTY-style keyboard for phonebook searching. The satellite radio has also been tweaked for added functionality. The 2014 LR2 starts at $37,495, and the top of the line 2014 LR2 HSE LUX model goes for $42,595.
