Watch Motor Trend Drive 11 Of The World’s Best Sports Cars In Tire-Smoking Glory

best drivers car

Guaranteed to be more fun than, say, watching Forbes editors pick stock portfolios: Watching Motor Trend pick the top driver’s car of 2011 will certainly involve lots of expensive metal, loud engines, a real-life racing driver, and the occasional—ok, plenty of—powerslides.

And there’s a lot to pick from! There’s the Lexus LF-A, the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Mercedes SLS AMG. There’s the Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, named after its spiritual home and, for the first time, represents a pony car that can be mentioned in the same breath as those multi-kilodollar exotics. There are the usual stalwarts from Porsche and Corvette. There’s even a Mazda RX-8 race car, for which we will pour one out for the dearly-departed peanut motor.

And there’s race car driver Justin Bell and cowboy-hat-aficionado (and MT scribe extraordinaire) Jonny Lieberman putting the cars through their paces, as expected, on Motor Trend’s YouTube channel. This is a three-part series, and the first two parts are up on YouTube as part of The Downshift program, which features a new episode every Tuesday. For part 3, and the thrilling conclusion…you’ll just have to come back. Or, as you know, stay tuned!
