Volvo’s On Call service is now offered in Switzerland. The service makes it possible for users to contact an emergency service center while providing the vehicle’s location. If an accident requires the car’s seatbelt system or inflates an airbag, Volvo On Call automatically notifies a Volvo operator.
The service is similar to General Motors OnStar.
On Callis already available in such European countries as the UK, France,and Luxemburg. Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Spain, and Portugal support the service but it is not specifically offered in those countries.
WirelessCar, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, developed the system.
Our take? Subscribers for GM’s Onstar have been quite positive with their service and we foresee the Swiss will be happy with On Call in their safe, biodiesel-powered, Volvos.
