Volkswagen’s gets Earth-Friendly at Olympics

Having been awarded the official automotive suppliers for the Olympic Torch’s Chinese leg of the relay, Volkswagen answered by showing off that the Volkswagen group has been awarded SO14001 certification for meeting strict environmental protection guidelines. In short Volkswagen and everything under it’s corporate umbrella are quite green.
They’ve chosen four vehicles for the task, the Touran, Octavia Mingrui, Magotan and Sagitar. Apparently the most significant modification for all is the inclusion of a commemorative logo for the event.

Lasting 97 days and covering more than 40.000km Volkswagen has committed 346 vehicle for the main motorcade, 583 in support, 30 for commercial purposes, and numerous support and technical staff.

Volkswagen recognizes that this is great opportunity to increase their standing in China.

Our Take? There are very few opportunities that can provide this level of exposure for an automaker, in a good way that is. Volkswagen is no doubt as excited about the upside post Olympics as much as the participation in such a wonderful event.
