Volkswagen recalling 920 Audi R8 Spyders for Fuel Line Defect

2011 Audi R8 Spyder

The Volkswagen group will recall 920 of its 2011 and 2012 Audi R8 Spyder models on account of a possible faulty fuel line. A potential fuel leak could cause gasoline to come into contact with an ignition source, causing a fire.

The Audi R8 is a high-end exotic sports car, based largely on the Lamborgini Gallardo (Lamborghini is owned by the Volkswagen group, which also owns Audi). With two seats, lots of horsepower and a sky-high price tag, the R8 is hardly a volume model for Audi, but it is an image leader, and Audi is keen to repair any problems promptly.

Affected owners will be notified of the recall beginning August 22, 2011. Dealers will inspect the fuel line, and replace it if deemed necessary or there is any damage. For more information from Audi, you can contact their customer service number at 800-822-2834, or you can contact the NHTSA directly at 888-327-4236, and reference campaign number 11V390000.
