Video: Twitter-Activated Vending Machine Dispenses Chevy Camaro Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels and Chevrolet Vending Machine

At the 2013 Canadian International Auto Show, Hot Wheels and Chevrolet Canada have teamed up with Twitter to produce a vending machine activated by tweeting. That’s right; by following the steps clearly labeled on the machine, it will dispense a diecast of the 2013 Hot Wheels Camaro.

All it takes to add this car to your collection is a tweet. So how does this work? There’s four easy-to-follow steps that have been placed on all the vending machines:

  • Follow @HotWheelsCanada
  • Enable “location services” on mobile Twitter app
  • Tweet “@ChebyCIAS @HotWheelsCanada” and share opinion of the 2013 Hot Wheels Chevrolet Camaro
  • Take exclusive 2013 Hot Wheels Camaro Diecast

Think you can handle that? However, as of now, this is only available at the 2013 Canadian International Auto Show. This is a great marketing idea to get exposure for a vehicle and to get the name out there. It enables the company to hear the likes and dislikes, critiques and praises associated with its new vehicle. By using social media in such a way, Hot Wheels and Chevrolet are reaching a wider audience and gaining more popularity. And who doesn’t love a free toy car? We hope to see this ingenious marketing ploy at auto shows to come.
