Video of the Day: New and Classic Volkswagen Beetle Ads

2012 Volkswagen Beetle Front Three Quarters

When Volkswagen was founded in the 1930s, few would have guessed how wildly popular the Beetle would become around the world. The iconic vehicle was introduced far before airbags, power windows, or air conditioning were options. From the original model to the 2012 Beetle, the car has come a long way.

After more than a decade of the second-generation car debuted, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is finally set to arrive in the U.S. in September. The base price of the third-generation Beetle will be $19,765 with a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine under the hood. While the new Beetle has a fresh look, it still retains cues that are clearly reminiscent of the first model.

Volkswagen has released countless memorable ads for the Beetle. These range from an ad of the original Beetle submerged in water to show how well made it is, to the third-generation Beetle ad that features a beetle symbolizing the all-new Volkswagen. Check the videos out for yourself below.
