Video of the Day: Patrick Long’s Commute in a Porsche 911 GT3 is Cooler than Yours

2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Skip Barber Promo Video

You may not know who Patrick Long is, but he’s a big deal around Porsche’s motorsports activities as the only American race car driver to drive a car for the automaker. Adding to his credits are three American LeMans GT2 racing championships and a slice of a class championship at the 24 Hours of LeMans itself.

But he’s still a small fish in Porsche’s very large, storied pond. And when he’s not racing, he’s teaching others how to at the Porsche Driving School at Barber Motorsport Park. And there, like the plight of every intern in the presence of much more seasoned professionals, Long’s sometimes relegated to menial tasks–namely fetching coffee for racing legends like Hurley Haywood.

At the wheel of the hardcore 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0, Long shows just how to get the boss his morning brew with some style. It’s light-hearted. It’s funny. And it’s something few could do well for a guy like Haywood, a legend. And although the stripped-out, road-ready race car Porsche has a mouthful of a name, it looks to make up for it with just how awesome it is around the track.

Take a look at the spot below.
