Oh hey, look, a new video showing rare and exotic cars in an underground parking garage. Check out the pristinely preserved (NOT restored, since none of these cars have ever seen the light of day, and are thus needing of only regular maintenance) relics of a bygone era in automotive history!
Like most enthusiasts, I love classic and rare cars. Which is precisely why I hate car museums and car collectors who think entirely in terms of the automobile as an investment. It is an investment–for college grads and new families and the others who must carefully calculate weekly expenditures for gas and groceries. It’s a shame then that videos such as this are the closest that most of us will ever get to some of the most iconic cars of the 20th century.
I’m only bitter because I want to drive them around a racetrack on the weekend, or enjoy them on a spirited drive in the local mountain/canyon pass, or cruise the strip on every Saturday night, and not baby them like the owners who are probably most interested in preserving their low mileage dignity.
