When a car wants you to drive it, you should never say no.
Not that you’d avoid driving it when said car is an Audi R8 5.2 Stasis Challenge Extreme Edition. Motor Trend’s Nate Martinez, in fact, never says a word throughout the video as he’s pursued by the R8 Stasis. Eventually, he drives the sultry coupe (or is he driven?).
Martinez is all smiles as he and the R8 Stasis weave through the empty mountain roads, the sonorous roar of the R8’s engine a reminder this is no run-of-the-mill sports car. The base R8 GT alone elicits gasps from enthusiasts with its 5.2 liter V-10 engine putting down 560 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. Tuner Stasis Engineering, though, supercharged the engine to a staggering 710 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque. Translation? Acceleration from 0-60 mph in an estimated 3.1 seconds. Stasis keeps everything under control – barely – by tuning the ECU adding a TVS 2300 blower with bespoke cooling system.
So we definitely felt for Martinez as the R8 Stasis unceremoniously tossed him out. For us, we continue to listen for that “come hither” roar or a glimpse of the license plate: NOT-A-INI.
