What goes into making a car suitable for various markets? Could it be retuning the suspension? Figuring out steering feel for rough roads? A crazy car enthusiast with a penchant for furry marsupial suits?
Maybe it’s a little of all three.
As seen in this Australian mockumentary for the 2012 Kia Rio subcompact, the car we’ll be getting in the U.S. isn’t exactly like the one our Aussie friends will receive. Kia of Australia’s tuning consultant Graeme Gambold and product manager Nick Reid go over the various differences that make the new car ready for the rough roads of the outback. That said, the oddball Skip Thompson comes along for the ride, bent on getting a turn at the wheel of the new car.
