Infiniti has been busy over the past few weeks. The Japanese luxury automaker has already announced that it will be renaming every model in its lineup. At the same time, we learned that the 2014 Infiniti Q50, formerly known as the G sedan, will make its official debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in two weeks. It’s almost customary now, but many automakers leak out images or video of an all-new or heavily refreshed model slated to debut at an upcoming auto show and Infiniti is no different here.
In today’s installment of Video of the Day, Infiniti’s upcoming Q50 teases the passenger’s side headlight…and not much else. The 2014 Infiniti Q50 is scheduled to be fully unveiled on January 14, prefaced by a performance by Cirque du Soleil. While the reason behind Cirque du Soleil performing is anyone’s guess, we have a strong inclination that the 2014 Infiniti Q50 will share many stylistic features with the outgoing G37. Admittedly, the video below doesn’t offer up much help, with the exception that we do know it will have LED lightbars and projector headlights. You can also see the typical aggressive styling applied to the headlights, something with which Infiniti has become synonymous.
One other clue the video gives us is hidden in the sound of the exhaust note; clearly not a V-8 or a four-cylinder, we expect the Q50 to soldier on with a V-6 engine, probably an upgraded version of the G37′s current engine. Of course, it’s not uncommon for automakers to doctor engine noise in commercials to get you up off the couch and into the local showroom, and there are rumors that the Q50 will offer a four-cylinder engine in lower-end models to help Infiniti’s overall fuel-economy scores.
Check out the video below and tell us what engine you think will power the 2014 Infiniti Q50 in the comment section below.
