This isn’t a fair fight. You know it. I know it. We all know it. But when a robber escapes out the back door of a business in downtown Los Angeles there’s only one way to catch him: in a 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, obviously. The crook takes off down a back alley and quickly attempts to even the playing field as he jumps in the driver’s seat of none other than…a Chevrolet Express van? The officer chasing the lawbreaker down stops a GL-Class (that just happens to be passing by at the time) in its tracks and hops in the passenger’s seat. After the usual “Follow that [insert escaping vehicle type here]!” is bellowed, the SUV takes off after the van.
The van takes off down the congested city streets as it attempts to shake the German juggernaut and even finds some early luck as a garbage truck cuts in front of the GL in an alley blocking its path. Never fear though, as the GL-Class has a 360 degree back-up camera making it easy for the driver to quickly reverse down the tight alley and around the typical back-alley crystal chandelier. Here’s where the commercial for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL begins and you realize it’s going to last three times longer than a normal one.
Throughout the remaining time, the GL gets into situations that can only be undone thanks to features on the latest model year GL. While we don’t want to ruin the commercial/short film for you entirely–especially the surprise ending–we will say the 360 degree back-up camera placement isn’t the only time you’ll see some of the luxury SUV’s features at work. Check out the entire car chase below to see if the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class actually catches the perpetrator in the Chevy Express van.
