The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a race-focused muscle car, so it makes sense Chevrolet would want to race it on the famed Nurburgring. And with an impressive lap time of 7 minutes, 37.47 seconds, apparently the Z/28 felt quite at home in Germany. To get some perspective, that time is good enough to edge the Porsche 911, Carrera S, and Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.
In a new video that shows the entire lap, we can see how inclement weather factored in towards the end, making for some difficult maneuvering; Chevy says its 2014 Camaro Z/28 could record a time of six seconds faster on dry conditions.
The Video also shows on which part of the course the Z/28 is, speed, RPMs, and the elapsed time. Chevrolet surprised us at the New York Auto Show earlier this year with the Camaro’s triumphant return to the market. While the 2014 Chevy Camaro is true enthusiasts muscle car, the Z/28 ditches a few creature comforts to focus exclusively on delivering the best racing results possible. The Camaro Z/28 loses sound deadening and its audio system—features that daily drivers like on their commutes, but that add weight and affect performance—and air conditioning is an option.
