Track and Road: Ignition Takes on US Ready 2013 Audi RS5

2013-Audi-RS5-Rear-View

Murmurs of the Audi RS5 used to be the most we could expect on these shores, until Audi announced some months ago it would bring the sports coupe to the U.S., too.  On Episode 32 of Ignition, Motor Trend’s Carlos Lago and crew take the 2013 Audi RS5 to Sonoma Raceway, and take the long, scenic way home. The Audi RS5′s 4.2-liter 450 hp V-8 and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission hold up beautifully on the track, but it’s on public roads where most of these Audi sports coupes will earn their keep.

Cruising down dramatic twisty Northern California roads, the coupe’s grip and all-wheel-drive prove useful, but the tight suspension is geared for those appreciative of the automaker’s sportier dynamics—after all, this isn’t the capable A5, but rather its menacing cousin. You can catch the full episode with one of the very limited Audi RS5 coupes below:
