Always recognized as the first green car on the road, the Toyota Prius will be getting another feature that will make it even more green.According to the BBC, solar panels will be added to power the hybrid’s air conditioning system on the higher-end trims. This will alleviate any slowdown of cooling air during those hot summer months.
This feature will be on the third generation of the Prius which is expected to be offered in 2009. Note Toyota is not the first car company to use solar panels to energize an accessory in a car. Mazda did it for a brief period of time as an option to energize the ventilation system when one of its cars was parked outside on hot days.
