Toyota Details Lexus LF-LC Blue at 2012 Australian Motor Show

Toyota has finally issued details on its second LF-LC concept which it released a teaser shot back in August.

For obvious reasons, the automaker named this latest iteration the Lexus LF-LC Blue. Like its crimson twin, which debuted in January at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the Lexus LF-LC Blue rolled out down under at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show. Says Tony Cramb, senior divisional manager for Toyota Australia: “For decades, Lexus has been synonymous with hybrid drivetrains, superior build quality, comfort and reliability. With the LF-LC we now reinforce our design and technology credentials. The LF-LC is absolutely stunning. Its good looks mask some very exciting design and engineering innovations that will influence Lexus vehicles in the future.”

Both the red and blue LF-LC concepts borrow heavily from Lexus’ LFA supercar. Lexus LF-LC Blue’s body is composed of aluminum and carbon fiber for an extremely light, yet durable body. But Toyota opens the hood of this beauty to reveal the beast that is its heart: a 500 horsepower gasoline/electric motor powertrain. Called the Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive, it is Toyota’s next generation hybrid system.

Toyota has released plenty of imagery of the Lexus LF-LC Red since Detroit, including a video tour of the supercar. The automaker has yet to give official greenlight for a production version of the LF-LC, which is considered a replacement of the late, lamented Lexus SC.
