As the American auto companies make decisions on what models to drop from their fleets, rumors persist that other companies like Toyota are doing the same. One site reported that a replacement for the Lexus SC had been dropped while the flagship Toyota Avalon would be discontinued. So called "basis" for these decisions come from the fact several Toyota models suffered year-on-year fall in sales include the Lexus LS; the Scion tC; and the Toyota Sienna, Highlander, and Tundra.
Uh, no. According to Toyota, rumors that the Lexus SC and Toyota Avalon will be dropped are not true. It then reminded pundits that it does not make announcements of its future product plans or timetables.

They can take the Avalon off the market for all I care. Mine is only 2 years old and while it runs and handles well. I keep having little things go wrong that add up to big bucks. I just took it to the dealer because the trunk won’t shut. Because I’m past the 36K warranty, they want $450 to fix the lock! That’s highway robbery for a 2 year old car.
