Consumer Reports list the 10 best and worse vehicles in terms of depreciation and resale value.Imports dominate the top vehicles which includes the Toyota Prius, MINI Cooper, and Acura TSX. Reliabity plays a big role in these vehicle’s high ratings though limited production (e.g., BMW M3, 6-Series) play a role as well.
The top ten include:

- Lexus RX
- BMW 6-Series
- Lexus GX
- Acura TSX
- Scion xA
- Honda Civic & Civic Hybrid
The bottom rung is dominated by domestic vehicles with many relying on old designs and/or chassis. Several, such as the Buick Rendevous, as scheduled to be phased out as either a cost cutting measure or most likely with a replacement on the horizon.

- Ford Crown Victoria
- Buick Rainier
- Lincoln Town Car
- Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan

Our take? Interestingly, the bottom 10 vehicles reflects the change in Americans’ taste as more consumers switch from either smaller cars, crossovers, or SUVs. Bargain hunters should consider the lower rungs since even CR admits there’s nothing technically wrong with the cars. The Explorer, especially, has been refreshed and packed with plenty of features.
