Subaru is calling back 295,123 Imprezas and Foresters to replace the lower wiper control arm. Another 195,080 Outbacks and Legacys are being recalled with the bottom cover of the wiper motor overheating and melting.
Imprezas manufactured from 2002-2007 and Foresters from 2003-2008 are being called back due to corrosion at the base of the control arms, causing them to break. A broken control arm can cause poor visibility during inclement weather, increasing the chance of an accident. Vehicles that have been registered or purchased in states with salty and/or humid environments are being recalled and are listed here.
The second issue is with wiper motors overheating and melting the bottom cover, rending the entire wiper assembly useless. Certain Outbacks manufactured from 2010-2011 and Legacys from January 7 2010-May 20, 2011 are affected by the recall.
