Spotted: Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz GL SUV Spied in California

Is this the next-gen Mercedes-Benz GL SUV? This dressed-up Mercedes-Benz SUV has been caught sporting camouflage a few times over the past couple months, but this time is slightly different. These shots snapped by our spy photographer show the Mercedes-Benz SUV testing on a California road with much less camouflage than normal, giving way to more exterior styling cues.

Despite being covered in a revealing black cover, it’s evident that many styling cues from the current  GL have made it to the next-gen model. As per usual, the luxurious Mercedes-Benz GL caters to those who are looking for more cargo space but want the redesigned exterior like its smaller brother, the Mercedes-Benz ML.

From what we can see here, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL will have an aggressive front-fascia and LED headlightss, LED taillights, and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, we expect the GL to share its engine with the ML in the form of a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 300 horsepower. The BlueTec diesel engine will be rated at 240 horsepower and an AMG version shouldn’t be far behind: hopefully the 5.5-liter V8 responsible for 518 horsepower. The usual seven-speed automatic transmission is also expected to find its way into the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL, as well.

As always, stay tuned as more photos and details make themselves available.
