The Toyota RAV4 is one of the most popular mid-sized crossovers here in the states along with the Honda CR-V. Currently in its sixth year, the Toyota RAV4 is due for a new model or at least a major overhaul. Our colleagues over at Motor Trend speculated earlier this year what these changes could possibly be, from Toyota dropping the optional V-6 engine from the next-generation RAV4 (most likely) to getting rid of the model entirely (snowballs chance in heck).
Spyshots of the upcoming Toyota RAV4 just dropped into our Inbox. Heavily cladded, it’s almost impossible to get any specific details of the new design. We can see from the outline of the grill and headlamps that the RAV4 will be wearing the new, more angular, design from the Toyota Camry. The RAV4′s taillights look like they now wrap around to the liftgate while the rear looks more angular overall. Photographers were unable to secure any interior shots at this time.
Automotive.com’s take: The all-new Honda CR-V, which made its debut at last year’s Orange County Auto show, scored points on its new design. It will be interesting to see if Toyota can match its major competitor when the RAV4 debuts later this year / early 2013.
