We recently caught the 2015 Ford Expedition out testing, and although it was in full camouflage, we were able to see some significant changes. We expected to see the signs of a mid-cycle facelift, and we weren’t disappointed. To keep costs down, Ford has implemented a cost-saving strategy for both the refreshed exterior and interior.
Ford is taking a different approach than what its top competitor General Motors has done for its Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon. Instead of basing the interior designs on an existing model that recently had a complete redesign like the Silverado, Ford is making it clear that the newest Expedition has no ties to the new 2015 F-150′s interior.
The interior shots caught a glimpse of the new infotainment system, showing off a thorough redesign of the passenger interface. The new Expedition is getting all-new HVAC control, along with new navigation and radio controls that have been paired with a larger LCD screen. Many of the changes have been focused on the center stack, and though the design may be similar to the outgoing model, Ford has worked to make the interior and technology feel more modern, while keeping costs at a minimum.
