Scion Reminds Us They Make More Than FR-S, Release 2013 tC RS 8.0

2013-Scion-tC-RS-8.0-Front-Three-Quarters

Before the 2013 Scion FR-S made it to dealerships, the youth oriented Toyota step-child made other cars. To prove this, it’s at it again, once again making non-FR-S models. Like the original Scion tC, this time wearing its riding boots and Sunday best. What are we talking about? Scion is releasing a series of tCs—complexly named—”Release Series.” The 2013 Scion tC RS 8.0 (the RS is for Release Series) will be limited to 2,000 models and will hit dealerships later this month.

The tC RS 8.0 sports 18-inch wheels and comes in only one color—Absolutely Red, which follows last year’s Release Series 7.0 High Voltage Yellow. Toyota Racing Development (TRD) outfitted the tC RS 8.0 with specialty parts like lowering springs and a special exhaust. The sports coupe features seats similar to those we’ve seen in the FR-S, with texturized black fabric and red stitching. The new Scion will be available with a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters, or a six-speed manual transmission. The tC RS 8.0 is fittingly given a race-inspired steering wheel—that with its five piece body kit—add a further element of sportiness. Scion will price the limited coupe starting at $22,545 for the automatic model after delivery, and $23,595 for the six-speed manual transmission model.
