What you’re looking at is the second teaser photo released by the folks over at Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology division. SRT recently added the heavily touted Viper to its lineup of performance vehicles, with the super snake being its biggest addition to date. The latest Viper is set to bow at the 2012 New York Auto Show in April.
As for what you’re looking at above, your guess is as good as ours. We know it’s made of carbon fiber, and we also know it’s an opening to something else and is encased in red sheet metal. After that we’re simply stumped as SRT has been less than giving when it comes to the first two teaser photos it has released. We believe it could be a cooling duct that is stuck to one of the window pillars, however it could also be a brake cooling duct, a roof scoop, or a hood scoop. The image appears to shift itself depending on how you turn your head to look at it.
SRT has become notorious for only adding on functional components and not just something to add to exterior styling. This likely means that if this is a cooling duct it will be responsible for cooling one or many of the intricate parts to the Viper.
Even as SRT has left much to the imaginable eye with its first two teaser photos the 2013 SRT Viper is expected to churn out 650 horsepower courtesy of a monstrous 8.7-liter V-10 engine which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. We’ve already introduced you to the Viper’s newest logo Stryker but expect more details and teaser images to emerge as the official unveil date of April 4th continues to creep closer.
