Report: 2014 Chevrolet Malibu to get Turbocharged Four Cylinder

Our enthusiastic counterparts over at Motor Trend recently confirmed long-held rumors that the next-generation Chevrolet Malibu will be getting a turbocharged four-cylinder as one of its future engine options.

Unfortunately, they weren’t able to confirm which turbo engine would power such an SS beast. General Motors could easily tap the Buick Regal for its 2.0 Ecotec four-cylinder engine for 220 horsepower or the even more potent 2.0-liter turbo four powering the Buick Regal GS. Motor Trend has also been hearing rumors that another, even more powerful 2.0 liter engine is in the works.

General Motors says a Chevrolet Malibu turbo will most likely bow in 2014. It would join the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu ECO and another Malibu model powered by a new 2.5-liter Ecotec four cylinder engine.
