The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued recalls for the 2013 BMW M5 and M6 models, as well as the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL for varying issues.

2013 BMW M5 and M6

The Issue: In September, BMW ordered dealers to stop selling M5 and M6 models manufactured between July 19 and September 11 of this year, and is now issuing a recall for an oil pump issue. Due to a manufacturing defect, the car could lose oil pressure causing the vehicle to stall, which could increase the risk of an accident.

Action: BMW will replace the oil pump free of charge. The automaker expects to complete repairs on the 696 affected vehicles by the end of this month.

2013 Mercedes-Benz SL

The Issue: Mercedes-Benz has been looking into issues concerning its air conditioning refrigerant and is now issuing a formal recall of 432 of its 2013 SL roadsters. In the event of a serious accident, the line could rupture, would could lead to an increased risk of fire.

Action: Dealers will correct the issue by replacing the refrigerant and hoses as necessary. The recall is expected to begin sometime this month.
