At the beginning of February, Chrysler Group LLC ordered a recall on model year 2003 and 2004 Dodge Vipers with a manufacturing date of Nobember1, 2001 to June 30, 2004. The reason for the recall is the front airbags deploying without reason.
There is a component in the air bag control module that is failing, which causes the front and possibly seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently when vehicle is in motion. With airbags going off without cause, the risk of personal injury increases, as does the likelihood of an accident.
Chrysler has already begun to notify customers, and dealers will repair all vehicles at no cost to the owner. An interim notification has already been sent out, but repairs will not be available until later this year. Owners can contact Chrysler by phone at (800) 247-9753 with the campaign number N13.
