Nissan is recalling 8,120 Infiniti M45 sedans made for the 2003 and 2004 model year over concerns of a fuel gauge that may reader higher than it actually is. Select M45s produced from March 7, 2002 through June 3, 2004 are being called into question. The problem is being attributed to a circuit board failure that will affect the instrument cluster’s gauges. If the fuel gauge reads higher than it actually is, the vehicle can unexpectedly stall and run out of fuel increasing the chance of an accident.
Nissan will begin notifying dealerships and owners in possession of the M45 sedans in question. The recall is expected to begin in mid-April and dealers will amend the circuit boards free of charge to the owner. Concerned owners can call Nissan’s customer service line at (800) 647-7261. You can also contact the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at (888) 327-4236 and reference action number PE11038.
