Last week, Nissan North America announced a recall for 2013 Nissa Altimas with a manufacturing date between March 21, 2012 and March 26, 2013. Over 123,000 vehicles are expected to be recalled, as the spare tires may have been significantly over or underinflated.
Tires that have been over or underinflated have a higher risk of failing without any warning, increasing the likelihood of an accident and injury to the driver and any passengers. Nissan will begin to notify owners starting May 3, 2013. Dealers will inspect and adjust the spare tire pressure as necessary, at no cost to the owner.
Owners can contact Nissan about this recall by phone at (800) 647-7261. Consumers may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline by phone at (888) 327-4236 or online at www.safercar.gov.
