One of the more popular Pontiacs was the Solstice convertible. Like the rest, it, too, will be discontinued along with the rest of the brand name.
However, Solstice enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the DeLorean Motor Company has taken an interest in reviving the Solstice.
Remember the DeLorean? Best known for the iconic gull-winged DMC-12 featured in the Back to the Future trilogy starring Michael J. Fox, DMC has released drawings of what the new Solstice will look like as well as the statement that, “they’re excited about the prospect of ‘putting several hundred people back to work ‘in Wilmington, though it’s unclear at how much capital it would take to acquire the plant and the source of funding such an endeavor.”
The prospect of producing the Solstice can be just the thing DMC needs to establish itself as a major automotive brand name. In fact, who knows, it might even lead to the revival of a certain classic Eighties movie franchise.
