The Los Angeles Auto Show is right around the corner, and though the Porsche Macan will be making its official debut at the event, Porsche has released images of the compact crossover testing in different environments. From the images, it’s clear to see that this is no Audi Q5 with different badging.
Although cousins, Porsche has made sure that there is a clear difference between the two vehicles. The Macan is expected to offer a unique line of engines, as well as a different exterior and interior than seen on the Audi. The Porsche Macan will feature a lineup of V-6 engines to start off with and will later receive a four-cylinder engine.
Porsche has developed a vehicle that can take on the different elements and road conditions, keeping with what the brand originally wanted the vehicle to be. The automaker didn’t want the Macan to be another accessory; it wanted the new compact crossover to embody the performance you’d expect to see in a Porsche. The photos below showcase the Macan taking on the urban streets, sandy dunes, and rocky and muddy terrain with ease.
Priced well below the Cayenne somewhere in the $40,000 range, the Porsche Macan appeals to a more diverse audience. Although the main competition may come in the form of the Range Rover Evoque, customers looking at slightly larger luxury crossovers may be drawn in by the new Porsche’s performance and capabilities. We’ll know for sure when it hits market after its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
