A Wheels24 fan took some shots of three barely disguised Porsche Panameras as they traveled around the South African country-side.
The Panamera is a sedan, a first for Porsche, and considered an abomination by many enthusiasts. But the sports car automaker has been working on the model for some time. The spectacular success of the Porsche Cayenne SUV (in terms of sales) probably has contributed to Porsche’s expansion plans into more mainstream vehicles such as sedans.
Official details are still scarce though there’s plenty of speculation. Competing against such exotics as the Aston Martin Rapide concept and the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the Panamera will most likely be equipped with a V-8 engine. Transmission is expected to be a dual-clutch.
The Panamera is scheduled to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Porsche has not given word when it will gone sale; again, rumor has it that it will be available in 2009 as a 2010 model.
