While the 2012 Porsche 911 makes its world debut this month at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the automaker announced today that the coupe will roll onto American soil this October at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. The 911 will be the crown jewel of a long line of Porsche racing gems including the Porsche 550 Spyder, the 917, Porsche 956/962, and the RS Spyder. Says Bernd Harling, General Manager of Public Relations, Porsche Cars, North America, “As the 911 race car and street car histories are completely intertwined, it is fitting to show our latest 911 at a motor racing extravaganza.”
The Porsche Rennsport Reunion is an assemblage of Porsche owners, collectors, racers, and fans to celebrate the famous sports car brand and its racing heritage. First held in Lima Rock, Connecticut in 2001 and faithfully gathered every three years, the Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV will be the first time the event will be held on the West Coast. Detlev von Platen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Cars North America, says this gives Porsche fans living in the Golden State and the surrounding areas a chance to see the many unique vehicles which make up Porsche’s 48 year racing history.
