Porsche and Volkswagen unions link arms. For now

The relationship between union workers at Volkswagen and Porsche may be getting better. The union workers have been screaming almost ever since Porsche showed signs of wanting to take more control of Volkswagen. Reports have been coming in for some time that, were Porsche to take over its German sibling, the union’s strength would be limited, something any union does not want to see happening.

However, there has been an agreement between labor union leaders at Porsche and VW over representation at the European Holding Company of Porsche. Details are still scanty but it seems to have mollified the unions members for now.

Our take? The friction between the two is still not over. Folks forget on this side of the pond that, despite the clashes between the Detroit Three and the UAW, those are nothing in comparison to the convoluted relationships between the German automakers, their unions, and the government.
