For as long as businesses have been creating new technologies, the innovations start off first on expensive luxury items. Over time, they trickle down the economic food chain until they reach the masses.
Car navigation systems are the latest to find their way to the Average Joe or Jane’s vehicle. The Detroit News reports that Nissan Motors will be offering a $400 navigation system on some of its high volume, low priced cars like the Sentra starting in January of 2010.
Developed by Bosch and Nissan, the system mounts into the dash and includes a 5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB connections for MP3 players like the Apple iPod. Access to an iPhone, XM Satellite Radio, and XM traffic reports is also provided. In addition, the system can be connected to a back-up camera.
