Nissan has a well-established track record of harassing the public with teasers of its cars. Just look at the last month that showed us headlights and tail lights of the 2013 Nissan Altima—one detail per week for five weeks—if you need any proof.
And Nissan’s at it again, too. This time, though, the Japanese automaker is showing five different models underneath sheets driving around. At first, you may think to yourself that this is one of the coolest 1990s Enterprise Rent-a-Car ads you’ve ever seen until the voiceover comes in. Then, Nissan validates your second-best guess with its five vehicles over the next 15 months announcement. Admit it, you’re excited. Deep down, you know you are.
So what are the new models?
From left to right: the Nissan Versa hatchback, which has already broken cover as the Nissan Tiida overseas; the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder; the 2013 Nissan Altima, which is shown at the end of the commercial; the second-generation Nissan Rogue small crossover; and the next Nissan Sentra, which couldn’t come soon enough.
And what will they all look like, you ask? We’ve already seen the North American version of the 2013 Altima at last week’s New York International Auto Show, and the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder will look very similar to the concept making its rounds on the auto show circuit. We expect subtle changes to the Tiida when it makes it here as the Versa hatch, and the Sentra and Rogue will likely adopt Nissan’s new trapezoidal grill and character lines running down their sides.
We’re not sure which will debut second behind the 2013 Altima, but we have a hunch it’ll be the production version of the Pathfinder. But does it really matter? All of them will be out within 15 months anyway.
