Nissan has announced two recalls for the just-introduced 2014 Nissan Versa Note, one for faulty rear seats and another for the structure of the vehicle. The affected vehicles have a manufacturing date between April 23, 2013 through July 5, 2013, and April 23, 2013 through July 3, 2013, respectively.
For the first recall, Nissan announced it for possible rear seat latch bolts that may not have been manufactured properly, causing their strength to be reduced. If these rear seat latch bolts were to break, the rear seats may come loose and not restrain passengers properly in an accident, increasing the likelihood of injury.
The second recall focuses on the lower body sill bolts that may have been incorrectly torqued. The incorrectly tightened lower body bolts can affect the vehicle’s overall integrity, and in the event of a rear impact, the chances of injury are further increased.
Nissan will notify owners of the affected vehicles in both recalls, with dealers performing the necessary adjustments and repairs as necessary at no cost to the owners. Both recalls will begin on August 12, 2013, and owners can contact Nissan by phone at (800) 547-7261 for more information. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline is also available for contact by phone at (888) 327-4236, or online at www.safercar.gov.
