Aside from a career and managing all those little things life throws your way, a remarkable amount of my time the last few years was spent managing my fantasy football teams. Like, probably too much time. I realize how nonsensical it is, but it’s not really even about the football for me as much as it is about the statistics. I love stats. I love reading, reviewing, studying, analyzing, predicting, tracking—whatever you want to call it—statistical data. And apparently I’m not alone. Realizing how many of us are out there, OnStar is testing an app that would allow Chevy Volt owners to track data concerning their cars.
“We’ve found that Volt owners love to keep track and compare their personal driving stats, like electric miles driven for example,” said Christi Landy, Chevrolet Volt marketing director. The EcoHub app will include a “Ticker” screen that will give Volt owners all the vitals: national values on total miles driven; total EV miles driven; and gallons of fuel saved. The app is currently available and undergoing testing in a smart grid living community in Austin, Texas. I don’t own a Volt, but if I did, you could bet that I’d be tracking my stats.
