Even with the recent release of the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray, there have been rumors of Chevrolet’s plans for the new Corvette Z06 and ZR1. There has been word that the next Z06 will keep its 7.0-liter engine, but with even more power than its current 500-horses; estimates predict it could jump as high as 600 hp.
However, no decisions will be made until the ZR1′s supercharged V-8 final horsepower number is released. The ZR1 would likely feature a supercharged version of the new LT1 V-8 engine in the base C7, possibly reviving the “LT5″ moniker of the original ZR1 engine.
The output logic for both cars is that if the ZR1 makes around 675 horsepower, the Z06 will get 550. But if the ZR1 makes it past 700 horsepower, the Z06 will get closer to 600. No comments have been made from the Corvette team, but it has been said that the new variants are at least a year out.
