Lexus has graced us with more pictures of its LF-LC hybrid sports concept it plans to introduce this month at Detroit’s 2012 North American International Auto Show.
This time, instead of pictures of the car in a dark setting, Lexus has given us the full monty with a side profile and front shot in daylight. A rakish 2+2 seater, we reckon the LF-LC would make a fantastic replacement for the recently discontinued Lexus SC 430 hardtop convertible.
Featuring Lexus’ new hourglass-shaped grille, the Lexus LF-LC, which was designed in California, looks like it borrows plenty from the brand’s $400,000 Lexus LFA supercar. Yet, it retains a modern styling direction that pushes Lexus forward with something wholly new and, dare we say it, exciting. Lexus officials said they were tired of putting sedate, boring cars on the road. This car looks like a perfect example of the brand putting its money where its mouth is.
A couple of more details dripped out as well, if only in headline form. The car will apparently have a back seat, and offer up a hybrid drivetrain. No word yet on production, but it’s not totally out of the question that such a car could be based on the recently introduced GS sedan’s underpinnings. We say go ahead, Lexus. We dare you.
