Mitsubishi has been dormant for the past few years as it quietly retools its lineup with “greener” technology and new sheet metal designs. Now, it appears the Japanese auto maker is finally coming out out of hiding as Mitsubishi announced it will be unveiling a new model at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
This latest model promises to be a premium vehicle and will go on sale sometime later this year. Our guess is that it’s the next-generation Outlander. Whatever it is, with only one teaser photo released so far (pictured above) it’s too early to tell whether Mitsubishi is truly delivering on its promises to be all-new.
If Mitsubishi doesn’t turn over a new leaf overnight don’t be surprised. The auto maker says the transformation will be a gradual transition as it refocuses the designing of both sheet metal and inner-workings. The change was put in motion from Mitsubishi’s “Jump 2013,” a business plan that looks to make the auto maker a “greener and more global Mitsubishi.” While the direction of new models are still being worked out Mitsubishi intends on tailoring different designs for its cars, crossovers, and SUVs while still being recognizable with the Three Diamond logo.
While pretty much every detail remains under wraps for Mitsubishi’s latest model we expect it to feature technology based the all-electric i-MiEV. As always, stay tuned as more details unfold.
