Mercedes Recalls Over 3,000 E-Class Wagons Over Faulty Rear Suspension System

2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon

A suspension connecting rod is the source of a recent Mercedes-Benz recall.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the connecting rod in the Mercedes E350 sports wagon may fail, increasing the risk of accidents. Mercedes-Benz thus is recalling the affected E-Class wagons, which are model years 2007-2009 and built between July 1, 2006 through April 30, 2009.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class owners will be contacted by the automaker to bring their station wagons — known as “estates” in Europe — to their dealers, who will inspect the connected rod and replace them without charge. Mercedes will start notifying owners starting in August; concerned E350 owners can reach the company now at (201) 573-0350. The NHTSA can also be contacted at (888) 327-4236 by E-Class owners, referencing campaign ID number 12V264000 for further details.
