The Pacifica Advance Design Center was opened by Chrysler in 1983 and was the site for the development of the 2006 Dodge Challenger concept vehicle, the Dodge Intrepid, Plymouth Prowler and Jeep Compass. Concept vehicles that were not produced but constructed there include the Chrysler Millennium and Atlantic. Chrysler closed the site earlier this year for cost saving reasons.
Now Auto Week reports that Mercedes-Benz is buying the building that once housed the center at a list price of $7.3 million. The once former owner/co-partner of Chrysler, which is now owned by Cerberus, has not announced what plans they have in mind for the structure.
Our take? Perhaps a little touch of nostalgia or is there something big in mind?
