Funny—we already know what the Mazda6 looks like. We’ve seen leaked press shots and moody teasers. We even know what the wagon looks like. Still, there’s something in these spy photos—shot in Big Bear in scenic northern California—that reassures us: the Mazda6 will be a very, very good-looking midsize sedan. Kodo, you’re all right.
Look past the Magic Eye camouflage (expertly laid on, in fact, and revealing precious nothing) and you can see the outlines of the lights, the hood lines, and the side sculpting. It’s a Mazda6 all right, and it certainly looks good—but it doesn’t look big, either. The interior reveals a console-mounted control knob so commonly adopted by today’s midsize sedans, and deep, sporty gauges cap off the look. That nav screen looks pretty big, too.
Mazda says that a new 6 will go on sale next January, after a stopover in Russia for the Moscow Motor Show at the end of this month—in a few days, really. And then we’ll get our clearest look at the Mazda6 yet: because it’ll be live, and in the flesh.
