Next-Generation Lincoln Navigator Losing V-8, Gaining EcoBoost V-6

2013 Lincoln Navigator

Despite the recent Lincoln brand shakeup, rumor has it that the Lincoln Navigator has survived to live to a next generation. However, there’s a twist: Rather than offer a V-8 engine, the next-generation Navigator may come exclusively with Ford’s 3.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine. The Navigator’s counterpart, the Ford Expedition, will still offer a V-8 engine, however.

The new Ford Expedition will have the automaker’s new 5.0-liter V-8 engine, reaching 360 horsepower, and could possibly offer a base 3.7-liter V-6 and twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 engine, however it’s possible that could be for Lincoln. With Ford’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, the next-generation Navigator will likely net 365 horsepower, a nice increase from its existing 310 horsepower. Combined with he new EcoBoost engine and a lighter frame, fuel economy in the Lincoln Navigator will improve. Thanks to the choices for a full-size luxury SUV like the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and the Infiniti QX56, the completely redesigned Lincoln Navigator is needed now more than ever.
