Kate Upton is featured in a new ad for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA, we think; it’s also possible there’s some Mercedes-Benz featured in a Kate Upton ad. The luxury German automaker—not wanting to miss a possible viral-homerun—has contracted the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model to appear in its ads touting the new four-dour sports sedan.
The curvaceous model rose to internet stardom with a now infamous video taped at a Los Angeles Clippers basketball game, with Upton playfully doing the Dougie. Later, Upton was featured in a Terry Richardson internet video that also received millions of hits and was widely shared. Just last week Mercedes-Benz debuted its newest sports sedan—the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA—at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
We were on-hand for the debut, and impressed with the CLA’s sleek styling and sensuous curves. Naturally, Mercedes-Benz is looking to generate a little buzz for the new CLA, and the tie-in with Kate Upton is likely to pay dividends. In the teaser ad below, the clichéd car wash scene is turned upside down, with those washing the car ogling the owner. We expect a newer ad, or series of ads to run during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 3, 2013, and in the weeks following.
